The 54th Annual Martin Luther King Memorial Breakfast celebration gathered under the banner:Â Keeping the Promise of Democracy.Â
In light of the assaults on affirmative action, civil rights, reproductive care, and protections for LGBTQ+ people, we were inspired by the words of Dr. King on the steps of the Lincoln memorial, “This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.”
